GALLERY OF WORK
It is hollow turning that provides the biggest attraction for me. The shapes are always graceful, and their only function is to hold your attention and enhance your surroundings. This means that complete freedom in design is possible.
I
have often felt that one of the greatest challenges to any woodturner must be
the humble bowl. A category in which I include platters, dishes, open vases or
whatever you wish to call the container.
An unusual statement - perhaps; but when you consider that man has been making
bowls for thousands of years, the challenge is not in the technical
difficulty. The challenge is to create an aesthetically pleasing design that is
stimulating and, if necessary, functional, whilst trying to be original as well. If ever a turned item was designed for holding nothing else but your thoughts and wishes, then the lidded pot must surely be it.
My work is now only available exclusively from the Dansel Gallery see www.danselgallery.co.uk |
